Ankle injury?

Asked by sscleveland 7 months ago, 5 answers.

Today I tripped over my dog and I landed weird on my ankle. I heard it crack really loud and then I moved it right away and it cracked again. It's kind of swollen and it hurts really bad.It hurts from the top half of my foot to the top of my ankle and it...

hurts going up the back of my leg. Occasionally my toes feel numb as well. My parents won't take me to the hospital. walked on it a lot today. It's a little bruised on the side and swollen. It doesn't hurt quite as much unless I step on it wrong or twist it far.Does it seem like something is broken or just sprained?

I think it's broken, because you heard it crack and some other things that you mentioned. Great parents you have for not willing to take you to the hospital. Jerks...

you could have done some damage to the ligament at the back of your foot. or you've sprained it. the crack you herd, I've herd happen to me before, believe me, if you had broken it you would have been in excrutationingly painful, seriously, you wouldn't be able to move. if that did happen then it might be broken, the crack was probably just (as you said you landed on it weirdly) the bones in your foot/ankle area grinding together, they're not supposed to do that but your not supposed to land weirdly either, so it seems pheesable. if your parents won't take you to hospital then keep an eye on it, see how it goes over he next couple of days and just focus on getting it better, stay off of it for a few hours each day, but DO NOT completely stop using it, then it'll be sore at first to use it again. if it really doesn't get better, and maybe a little worse, tell your parents, and ask them again.

no I dont think its broken, I hurt mine back in feb of 08 and I heard it crack. so I went to get exrays because the dr thought the little bones at the top of the ankle were broken, it was swelled 3 times the size and I couldnt walk. but it was only a serious sprain and its still sore today. but the best thing to do is put ice on it, keep it elevated and try not to walk on it. if it doesnt get better in a day show your parents and make them take you to the hospital

youve either torn the ligaments or broken it
this is a seriouse injury and you need to go to hospital asap
because if it heals wrong, your foot could end up being crooked or feel painfull for the rest of your life
even if you can get there by yourself, just try to go within 3 days of the injury
and dont walk on it, avoid as much walking and using it as you can
try to stay off it and ice it a bit

I just sprained my ankle too. I heard the crack, cried a few seconds, and now I can't walk on it. What you do is take Tylenol or some pain reliever. Then elevate your leg, and press some ice on to it. REST is the key ingredient. If your spanish ask your parents if they have 'Cofal fuerte' which is equivalent to those stinky strong smelling paste jars you rub on injures.
