Am i underweight?

Shark Atack Asked by funadvice about 1 year ago, 8 answers.

This topic was raised with me by my doctor recently, saying I'm underweight, but it never dawned on me before, I eat healthy, exercise and don't think I have an eating problem.
I'm 20, 5'2 and weigh 78 pounds - is that really underweight, because it...

sounds like a lot to me...??

It is extremely underweight. Do you eat 1,500-2000 calories each day? Do you feel that you are fat? Do yuo have an intense fear of gainign weight? Is your hair thinning, do your lips or fingers ever turn blue, do you get cramps e.g foot cramps often, are you very tired, do you count calories obsessively, have you ever made yourself vomit, do yuo exercise excessively? If you would answer yes to any of these questions or any other symptom you can think of (you can look anorexia symptoms up online) then you need to talk to a doctor about beign referred to an eating disorder specialist before it is too late. I know it sounds dramatic but 78 pounds is extremely thin.

Honestly it's VER underweight. didn't anyone ever tell you??! Shocking. You need some meat in you're bones. I'm not saying all fat but some muscle. You should find ways to gain healthier weight. you don't want to end up having a heart attack or something for being too thin. its like bring overweight its not healthy. do if for you're health 3

That's like REALLY underweight. My brother is the same way. All he does is sit on the computer all day, and he eats 3 meals a day and snacks but no mater what he doesn't put on weight. I'm sure if people saw him and didn't know us they would tink we starve him or something. Bu my mom makes him drink ensures with his breakfast and lunch to help get him more nutrition and pack on weight. But yeah, you definately need to eat more, it doesn't have to be junk food, just more than you do now.

You should weigh between 99 and 121 pounds. Listen to your doctor!

It looks like you may be anorexic.

if you don't think you have an eating disorder or anything, you may be like my brother.

He's 5'5 and is SO skinny, but he eats healthily and just sits on his xbox all day.

But if you're concerned, see your doctor again and ask what you can do
