Am I right or just a different kind of ignorant?
You be the judge:

I dont mean to come of as a wannabe messiah or something
But unfortunately (at least where I live)
I believe the ignorant mentality is taking over
Its as if the people (especially the youth;dont get me started there)
Are allowing a sheet to be pulled over their eyes while they live in their own little world, free of worry
I cant even begin to tell you about my friends and other peers and their blatant ignorance
I dont mean to ramble but,

When we were discussing atheism,religion,non-believers,etc.
My friend said something that deeply discouraged me in countless ways:
'I know god exists! People who dont believe in that are just wrong...'

Needless to say its such a sad sight to see;
The youths, who are meant to bring a 'new-world order' in my opinion, are too busy worrying about the newest brand of expensive clothing or the newest rap song (both are guaranteed to get old so why not fight for the future?!)

Anyway ill keep it at that

btw what I meant by 'new world order' has to do with the path to freedom
not religion
sorry it just came out that way

I am thankful there are young people, like you, that will question authority, ask questions, and take action.
more power to you!

in my opinion, society and te public schools are in a 'dumbing down' spiral - many things contribute to this - I agree, it is sad to see - prayer is needed for this nation to turn it around - There is always hope !!

I believe we need more than prayer, we need action.

I think amblessed is right in his assessment but I think education and good moral leadership are the answers instead of prayer.

You know, every generation is like that. If you want the world to change, you have to make it happen yourself.

At 14 to 16 or 17 your peers are expected to be doing their own thing. They are in a state of turmoil from hormone, emotion and brain changes that would cause confusion is most of us. Once they get to be 18 society starts considering them more adult and expecting them to be more concerned with the community and world around them.

I find no fault with youth under 18 living in their own little world. It is where they learn, experiment and grow.

ya I'd have to agree with ethmer. I miss the day's when I was in my own world and worry free. enjoy it while your young. but it does seem as if each generation keeps getting worse and worse. And way to many Americans have a sheet over their eyes. it seems as if people have lost the ambition to stand up and try to change the wrongs in the world.

age is not an excuse for ignorance. young people tend to think the world revolves around them. I was that way, my son also. but at the same time we knew about political and social issues and were not afraid or unable to express our views.
many of our best and brightest leaders have started in their early youth with community action and student activities.
and I expected my son to be concerned with his community when he was young.
he learned about helping others through working at food kitchens.
he gave the clothes that he had outgrown to the homeless.
he went to the 'angel tree' each year and purchased gifts for other children, with his own money, each holiday season.
when my son was in fourth grade he told his class about what was happening in south africa. he heard about it on television and cared.
he wrote a letter to president reagan asking him to help the homeless.

you are never 'too young' to develop an understanding of the world around you.
just as you are never 'too young' to develop a less selfish attitude towards others.
