yes aerobics and yoga will help you in being fit and healthy, the amount of calories burnt will depend on which type of yoga nad aerobics you do, i mean easy, medium, hard
I wouldnt worry about the calories... the amount of calories burnt doesnt effect how good the exercise is...for example, if your doing yoga and aerobics its going to help your whole body stay in shape and get fit - its a great form of exercise and focuses on every part of your body...
but lifting weights with your arms (even tho a good exercise) will only target your arms, so if your burning say 50 calories in yoga, its better then 50 calories in weight lifting...so really the calories make no difference? does that make sense...
what im trying to get at is dont worry about the calories burnt, but keep doing the 40 mins of yoga and aerobics because its such a good exericise and 40 minutes is a good amount of time a week!
good luck

Well, I just started doing yoga and I only do it 25 minutes a day and I have lost 5 pounds so far, that is of course takeing in the fact that I eat right, get the right amount of sleep and drink no soda whatsoever, for me I find it helps to drink ice tea because it flushes out your system and for the whole over all view makes you feel good. Remember its not the number on the scale or the calories you need to worry about, what you should ask yourself instead is this... can I get away with the weight Im at now and still be able to do the things I want to do? If the answer is yes then dont worry about the numbers if you feel youd like to improve then maybe talk to your doctor and see what you can do, afterall what matters most is how you feel physically and mentally.
