Advice for a lame 'ghost hunter'

Christmas parties are the shit Asked by wardez 11 months ago, 6 answers.

I've been to the most haunted places in Southern Nevada. I've gone urban exploring through the most so called ghost infested building and hotels of Las Vegas (my hometown). Simply put; I've gone ghost hunting, a lot.

Thing is, I haven't encountered...

anything unusual. A weird noise here or there, but not much else.

I've seriously this topic. I stayed the night at the Armagosa hotel near Death Valley. I explored the famous Goldfield hotel. Visited Fox Ridge park, which is supposedly haunted by the spirit of a little boy. Been to a nearby bee-farm purportedly beind haunted by the mad ghost of the original owner of the place. I've even hit a few spots in Southern California as well as Arizona... and nothing.

I have a bit of a skeptical mind, but it's still open to whatever I can get. I don't doubt ghosts exist, but my lack of experience is telling me otherwise. Is my half-way faith stunting my ability to see apparitions?

I always go to these places at, or after, midnight; 'deadhour'.
I always try to go when there's a full moon. I don't carry a cross or anything religious. I've tried staying quiet, as well as calling out the spirits out loud and nothing...
I don't do the Quija board though, by the way.

Any advice? I really do want to keep on pursuing this incredibly interesting phenomenon, but it's starting to seem like a waste of time. Anything you guys could tell me about your own experiences or casual advice would help.

Thanks in advance,
Wardez

It sounds as though you have been seriously searching for validation of any type of spiritual or paranormal phenomenon.

You haven't, however, mentioned anything about any type of equipment that you use on your excersions. Equipment such as infa-red cameras, meters to record electrical fluctuations, voice recorders, temperature recorders... and so on.

Many times, phenomenon as such will only be captured on equipment and not seen with the naked eye. In addition, should you encounter anything, I would think that you would want a permanent record of it for validation of your findings.

Another thought would be to begin keeping a log of sorts. Where you have been, what you have found (even if nothing) and so on. Do some research on the internet of places where other people have discovered and recorded activities.
Match where you have been, with where they have been and see how parallel you are running with their adjenda.

If you have the same equipment, go to the same places, and set yourself up similar to the same way others have when they got results... most likely you will improve your batting average.

However, if you are simply wandering to places hoping to see a ghost... it may be a very long journey for you overall.

You don't find any ghosts, because ghosts don't exist. Ghost stories amount to confirmation bias - usually greatly exaggerated. Like demons, aliens, leprechauns, and fairies, the only people who ever see ghosts are the people who believe in them.

Obviously a whole lot of nothing isn't conclusive proof that ghosts _don't_ exist. But the fact that nobody has ever presented concrete evidence for their existence seems like a pretty good indication there's no reason to believe in them, to me.

Got to go with rubbercrutches on this one. Even if you don't have the money to spend on fancy equipment, just snapping photos with a regular camera and turning your voice recorder on while you call out to them might get you something. You might have to go through literally a few hundred to a few thousand photos/recordings before you can find something substantial or at least controversial.

98% of the time, you won't be able to see anything in person with your naked eye. Even popular ghost hunters on TV mostly get nothing, but they will be able to record a suspicious shadow here or film a flying orb there.

If you have a friend who is a psychic or a sensitive, he/she could also be very useful in your search.

It's important to keep your skepticism, it keeps you sane, and your findings valid. But it wouldn't hurt to try to be more 'open' to spirit activity. That level or energy will attract their energy.

You might have to go through literally a few hundred to a few thousand photos/recordings before you can find something substantial or at least controversial.

Which demonstrates only that if you take enough photos or recordings, you're bound to get an artefact in some of them.
