Can you explain what it's all about?

Phrannie, you have no idea what you are talking about...

ACORN has been investigated many many times over the past eight years, and they have never once been found guilty of doing anything wrong. The investigations into them are purely political, and are meant to discredit their voter registration efforts. The reason David Inglesias was fired in the Federal Prosecutor scandal was because he refused to pursue a case against ACORN due to a complete lack of evidence.

Many critics will point to the few ACORN workers who were arrested for voter registration fraud and say that that proves they are doing things that are illegal. But what these people always leave out is the fact that it was ACORN themselves who turned in the workers once they found the phoney registration cards.

They are a very good oganization that does great work. Republicans don't like them because they are so successful in getting so many new voters registered in poor neighborhoods.

ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is a community-based organization that advocates for low- and moderate-income families by working on neighborhood safety, voter registration, health care, affordable housing, and other social issues.

From Wikipedia:

ACORN was a political issue in the 2008 United States Presidential Election over allegations of conflict of interest and voter registration fraud. During the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary ACORN Votes, ACORN's national political action committee, endorsed Barack Obama. Obama, with several other attorneys, had served as local counsel for ACORN in a 1995 voting rights lawsuit joined by the Justice Department and the League of Women Voters.Obama's campaign hired an ACORN affiliate for $800,000 to conduct a get-out-the-vote effort during that primary, but did not retain ACORN for the general presidential election.

Throughout the election season, supporters of Republican candidates portrayed ACORN's submission of invalid voter registration applications as widespread vote fraud. Republican presidential candidate John McCain claimed in the last presidential debate that ACORN was on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy. Factcheck.org called the claim breathtakingly inaccurate. In October 2008, Sen. McCain's campaign released a Web-based advertisement claiming ACORN was responsible for massive voter fraud, a point repeated in the final presidential debate. The ads also claimed that home loan programs ACORN promoted were partly responsible for the sub-prime mortgage crisis. Both claims were found to be exaggerated and inaccurate.

Ok, etyhvh: if you don't clarify with some facts that last statement, your account is history. You have 10 minutes.

BTW, the only person arrested for voter fraud was ...Republican. Fact.

Honestly, I'm getting so tired of the republicans misquoting things Obama said, spouting propaganda, and even flat out lying... all because they're still sour that McCain lost the election.

Come on guys... change the darn record, this tune is getting up my bracket!

You can google voter fraud and Acorn and find a wealth of information on it. They even have ties to the Obama campain and are currently under investigation. The new york post has some coverage on it as well.

Criminal investigation is not equal to guilty...

...unless things have changed in this country since Obama got elected? What *is* clear is that we have an investigation, aka, waste of money, into a non issue...when guys that broke the law, tortured, etc, are running free.

Riddle me that. happy

Never said that they were guilty, but there is a strong case against them. You know who also hasn't been convicted yet is the guy that killed Dr. Tiller. But how do you see the acorn thing as not being an issue? Voter fraud isn't a big deal to you?

President can only go to war for 90 days (I think) then they need the approval of congress. That means that there are democrats involved as well who were going on the same information that Bush had. But oh no we can't convict democrats they are too good to make a mistake. You have to take the good with the bad, Bush hasn't even been convicted and already you are calling him guilty. What makes you so special that you can condemn people before the system yet, no one else can?
