**sure I agree with you there. they dont know anything. but they will when they are born. and I would rather have a crappy childhood that be dead. seriously?! its only 18 years until they move out. **

Obviously you never lived 18 years being physically and emotionally abused, dealing with an alcoholic father who proceeds to molest you, and a perverted step-father who--when you mention a pain in your foot--he has you raise your shirt so he can look at it,
Sorry, but that comment was completely idiotic. (Not saying the person making the comment is idiotic---but that comment needed a lot more thought put into it before it was posted!!)

I am pro-choice for several reasons.

1: I believe that a woman has the right to do what she feels is right, with her own body. I do not believe that any government should have the right to tell her what she can and can not do with her body.

2: Getting rid of abortion, does not solve the problem. When abortions were illegal, you ended up with back alley abortions, women drinking bleach, using coat hangers, and either killing themselves and the baby, or leaving the baby sick and deformed from trying to have an abortion at home.

3: I do not believe that adoption is always the best answer. For a drug-addicted woman who becomes pregnant, she is NOT going to stop doing drugs for a baby she is not keeping, so she will continue using for 9 months and have a crack-addicted baby that no one wants to adopt. How many crack head babies are you willing to adopt?

4: There are millions of cases of women who choose not to get abortions or give the baby up for adoption, and ended up resenting their child. This child then get's emotional and physical abuse, and to me, I would rather that child not be on this earch than have to deal with an abusive mother.

alright to most recent.
when you said I would rather not have this child on earth,
what about the child?
sure some parent will try and do home abortions but its deffintetly going to be less than ll the babys that are being killed now.

What do you mean what about the child? Before a baby is born, it is a fetus. It knows nothing of life, nothing of love, nothing... It's simply a fetus.

I would rather a child not be born, than to be born to an abusive mother. Period.

Banning abortions is not the answer. It does not solve the problem what so ever. Yes, you will have less fetus's being discarded, but you will have more homeless children, more ill-deformed babies being born, more children who are abused and neglected, etc.

I agree 100% with mandyloo.

Abortion is sometimes necessary and it should be a womans right to choose what to do with her body.

Also putting up and child for adoption isn't always practical and Millions of children don't get adopted or get put into homes that are abusive or don't find homes at all. Then to me it would be more merciful not to have the child in the first place.

Yes, 18 years of abuse and hell for the child. Why willingly put anyone through that. Plus then the child has a great chance of becoming an abusive adult, which hurts more children and so it goes on.

And they don't know anything when they are born either, I certainly don't remember anything.

but they will when they are born.

But, they are not born yet, and they do not know anything yet...see my point.

You say you would rather have a crappy childhood than be dead. Say that to the millions of teens who have commited suicide after being beaten, raped, and emotionally abused by their own parents. Think about it. I would NEVER want ANY child to be in that situation.

both of you are just assuming that the child will be abused or raped.
its normally not the case.
and living through the 18 years of possibly abuse is an opinion.

We're not assuming that every child that gets aborted will possibly be abused, we are saying that is one of the reasons why a woman should have the CHOICE to have an abortion, because SOME children will get abused, just like SOME women who get raped should have that choice.

Were not assuming hun, were looking at the past and at facts. There are in fact millions of children who are raped/abused/beaten by their own parents every year. I would rather those children not be alive, than to have to deal with that kind of abuse and mistreatment.

I think we should all have the right to decide what is best for us, individually.

Nobody should have the right to decide for another.

I, personally, would never have an abortion, and I would never allow my daughters to have an abortion, but that's the extent of my obligations to my belief. I may not like it, but everyone should have their own right to choose.

The beliefs of one do not govern the decisions of the rest of the world.

I'm pro-choice. because abortions are sometimes necessary.

And most people on this site who 'claim' to be pro-life, simply do so out of idealism; and do not acknowledge or are completely ignorant of certain scenarios.

im prolife. why would you want to murder a child when there are so many other options?

I didnt really read any of the answers up there though. they seem to be pointless. A life is a life.
Would you be willing to kill a child that is JUST born because the mother is a crack head, or because she resents it, or for any other reason?

we all feel that a baby has the right to live and we feel good thinking that but for some people it is just a bad idea and you have to accept it. if you dont want an abortion and you dont want a baby... use protection... or dont have sex.

What about if a woman gets raped?
Or if she uses protection but for some reason it doesn't work?

Glad to see this question reopened...Could not understand why it was closed in the first place...

Abortion as a method of birth control is deplorable.
And I don't think that ANYONE thinks that abortion is a great thing.
Women aren't lining up, excited at the prospect of having an abortion.
BUT having said that, I am pro-choice..

To each of you that are completely against abortion under any circumstances,
what are you doing to help these children that you INSIST must be born?
Are you working for better education, free healthcare for the children, free childcare services, better social services for the mothers AND the children?
Are you DEMANDING that sex education be taught in the schools?
That birth control be available to women?
Are you protesting that most health insurance will pay for VIAGARA pills for men, but won't pay for BIRTH CONTROL for women?

Or is it JUST about pushing that baby through the birth canal?
That, once born, it isn't your problem?

Your arguments about banning abortion would go a lot further IF you backed it up with options.
If you worked for easier adoption laws.
If you wrote your elected officials and demanded that free childcare should be available.
If you went to your school boards and DEMANDED that sex education programs be taught in your schools.

In other words...
Work for a better world for these children that you INSIST must be born.

For those of you religious people who are against abortion, isn't it said that god doesn't close a door without opening a window?
Well, maybe YOU are supposed to be that window.
Maybe god wants you to work for a better life for those babies that you INSIST must be born.

To each and every pro-lifer...
it is not enough to say it is wrong...
work for the solution...

abortion is an option that women need to have
say if they were raped
birth control failed, contraception failed,
it wasnt palnned, theyre not mentally/financially stable, ect
it is not howevere a quick fix for young uneducated kids who cant keep there legs closed
but its an option that women need
and bringing god into it does nothing
because you never know who that kis will turn out to be
it could be a doctor, it could be your best friend
it could be the next hitler, a terrorist, a rapist, ect
you dont know who theyll turn out to be
but its still an option that women need
