2012??

I've heard so many things about the world ending in 2012..do you guys think its really gonna happen?? I dont wna believe its gna happen but it scares me sometimes..y does it gotta happen in my time? im 17, that means I wont even b 21 when it happens..im...

I've been watching this 2012 hysteria for weeks now, and no one has said this one yet. Kudos for originality, at least.

When people said the world was going to end in 2012, thats complete nosense. It is the same thing as me or you saying the world is going to end in 2056. It may or may not happen, probably not. But I can't be 100% sure there is a slight chance it may happen, but not because a person guessed, because scientists couldn't see meteors, volcanoes, or earthquakes occurring.

Da world wont end in 2012 but that is da year earths polar regions will switch because earths magnetic field will switch so north will become south etc... Earth wont end but it'll certainly be different it is going to happen

How naive can people be? So many are distressed about a would be impending dooms day. Might I ask what brought about this ridicules superstition?

The Mayan calendar? Nostradamus? Solar Storms? Super Volcano? Shift of the magnetic poles? The galactic eclipse Planet X? Might I ask those who claim these to be signs of Armageddon exactly what resources do you reap your information from?

Firstly, about Nostradamus' so called prophases. His prophesies are vague, unclear, and can be easily vexed. I recall a few years ago, before this mass delirium of 2012, reading Nostradamus predicted the end of the world would be when Earth was engulfed by the sun during its final stages of life before it explodes. We still have another few thousand if not billion of years. His so called garbled prophases of 2012 would appear to of been contrived to fit the purpose of adding to the delirium of those so called dooms day date.

Solar storms are virtually harmless toward life forms on this planet. Solar storms are a result of intense out burst of plasma from the sun (AKA coronal mass ejections) which may cause electromagnetic interference, overload power circuits, which cause black outs and may wreak mayhem on technology causing lasting damage spelling bad news for those countries who rely heavily on technology. I wont doubt that people may indeed die or fall ill. Even so, it wont be the end of the world, no where near it even. Besides, scientist are looking for a way to predict solar storms and are looking for ways to prevent blackouts caused from power overload from the storms.

The super volcano in Yellowstone Park, yes it may erupt within this generation. For those uniformed, allow me to enlighten you on the matter a bit. A super volcano isn't your average volcano(obviously). The volcano of Yellowstone Park, the size of the magma chamber is nearly the size of the park itself. When this volcano erupts the earth will start to tremor then quake. Magma will erupt from the chamber. Ash will be thrown up into the atmosphere, dropping the world's temperature by 5 degrees Celsius. Even people who are states away from the volcano may choke on the ash. Scientist have placed detectors around the volcano. It's predicted we should know up to 10 days in advanced before it erupts in order to prepare for the worst. The effects will be cataclysmic world wide, but still, it will NOT be the end of the world. Even so, it's unlikely it'll happen in the near future.

There's rumors flying about that every galactic eclipse(when the sun appears to be at the point of the center of the galaxy from Earth's perspective) that something catastrophic happens. Again, though catastrophic, the earth hasn't ended yet, it's still here, isn't it.

Oh, but the planets, they align. You know what I say unto you? Zipidy-do-da, grab a telescope and enjoy this rare event(I personally recommend a Galileo).

The magnetic poles are to shift in 2012, though scientist are still figuring how it will happen and how this might effect the world, I don't see how it's suppose to end the world, I highly doubt any scientist will claim it to be. The magnetic poles have shifted before...guess what...we're still here!

Planet X orbits close to Earth every 3,600 years, nothing new. However, here's something to ponder about. Anthropologist have determined the 3 crucial early phases of human evolution - farming, rudimentary culture, civilization - happened in 3,600 year intervals, corresponding to the orbit of Planet X. Neat, aye?

Finally, the Mayan calendar. The Mayan's long count calendar will end. So? What does that have to do with the end of the world? Once the calendar ends it starts over again. As for their supposed prophets of doom on this date, show me. The Mayans have prophesied beyond the date of 2012, and(get this) they DO NOT have any prophesies of the end of the world.

For those who might jump down my throat, protesting that I'm wrong, do you really want to be right? Think of this now, END OF WORLD, meaning it will be the end of you as well.

If it truly turns out to be the end, why fret? Just enjoy the time you have left and don't worry about it. However, if you feel the need to be concerned about something

Be concerned how to get through this recession
Be concerned what the government's doing with our tax money,
Be concerned about the war, how worse it's going to get
Your next door neighbors, are they killers?
Your child at church(over 160 children get molested at church a year)
Concern yourself with about global warming
Those less fortunate than yourself
New illness and the next pandemic
Or even when the moon drifts out of Earth's gravitation(yes, the moon is drifting, though we still have quite sometime), how it will effect Earth's weather patterns and even night and day
But DON'T worry about 2012!
