I've noticed some discrepancies in your advice:
You will need;
Tire chalk
Change chalk to chocks. Might mention that bricks, rocks, wood, etc also make decent chocks in a pinch as most people do not carry tire chocks.Step 0
Make sure the spare is OK.Step 1
Vehicle 4-way flashers and reflectors, flares (if they have them) should also be used.Step 2
We will now set up tire chocks which are like blocks to prevent the car from rolling,
or moving off of the car jack in any case of movement from the car. Place the tire
chocks behind the back wheels of the car.
Actually, place them on the axle that does not have the flat.If you don't have tire chocks, put the spare tire behind the back wheel of the car, or the front wheel, if the ground slopes forward.
This is not really a good idea as jacking the car up can actually bind the spare under the vehicle or the tire and the last thing anyone needs to be doing is pushing or rocking the car while it's in the air to get the spare free.Step 3
Jack placement varies wildly, best to refer them to the car's manual at this point. Usually, body hard points are for vehicles limited wheel movement. Most pickups and SUVs will have the lift point under the axle. Older cars (think chrome bumpers) will have the jack point as a slot on the bumper.Step 4
Begin to loosen the lug nuts on the car. Just slightly loosen then, then slowly jack
the car up to the right amount to where the tire is off the ground. Remove the lug
nuts completely and take the cars wheel off.
You really want to jack the car up to a point where the spare will go ON the vehicle.Step 5
Once the wheel is off, grab your spare and firmly put it onto the car. Make sure it's a
snug fit.
Change this to gently, and most of the time the wheel will not remain on the lugs snugly until the nuts are holding it there.
...
This prevents the cars wheel from warping.
What it really does it prevents the wheel holes from binding on the lugs and ensures that the wheel insets fit correctly on the lugs giving the wheel a true fit.Step 7
Now tighten the lug nuts entirely using the same Star or Criss-cross method we
used before. Once they are snugly fit, then let the car down all the way.
Change 'snugly fit' to 'firmly tightened', they snugly fit the nuts earlier by hand.Step 8
Now you can put your spare tire back in the trunk along with anything that has been
taken out.
Why are they putting the spare back in the trunk? Also, make note that most vehicles today have a 'doughnut' spare and the regular tire might not fit in the trunk. (Besides the pickup and SUVs generally having the tire winched up below the rear of the vehicle thing.)All in all a pretty good article, but since you're writing what will become a reference, you should make sure it's as good as it gets.
You responded to my inquiry, and I think your answer was vague and kind of insulting( O__o )What percentage of your 1000+ answers are similar I wonder...

spartan512's Profile
I'm just a teenager that's progressing through life. I've had my share of ups and downs, but I've learned from them. My goal would be to share my knowledge from my situations to help benefit others. I tend not to "Sugarcoat" my answers :P Now a little bit about me. I live in the middle of nowhere country in southern Ohio. I live on 250 acres of land, 130 of it being crops, and the rest woodland. I am currently cyberschooled, and have a lot of free time. Some of the things I love doing include; Hunting, Fishing, Paint balling, mudding, quadding, and of course, playing video games. As for my career choice, I plan to enlist into the United States Marine Corps soon after highschool. There I plan to be infantry until I can enlist into Scout Snipers. My goals are somewhat high, but with hard work and determination, anything is possible. I am an advisor, so feel free to shoot a question my way. Don't worry, I wont bite. :) -Steve
