sweet heart, God is not a bastard. He is not vain or imperfect. As Christians we believe in God as a way of trusting Him and having faith that He is God. Kinda like, if your mother sher is put here to take care of you and watch over you. You as the child have to believe that she will do as she is suppose to. You have to trust her to take care of you. God is the same, we have to believe in Him and trust that He will take care of us and watch over us. How can you trust a person unless you first believe in them? Since I don't believe in god, I don't believe he is a bastard or vain. But there are many believers who think that believing in him is the only way to be saved. That being a good person is not good enough. If that were true, then this god of yours would indeed be cruel and vain if he could cast people into the fire simply because they could not believe such a fantastic story. A story that there is not one shred of evidence that it is true. I did believe and trust in god. But the more I learned about religion, the more I became convinced it is nothing but mythology. It gave me nothing in return, and I have become a much happier person without it.
