A bomb threat prompted the evacuation of a school in Osceola County on Wednesday morning.
It happened at Neptune Middle School in Kissimmee, WESH 2 News reported.Orange County's bomb squad said they blew up the backpack and determined there was nothing explosive inside.
The threat was prompted by a hand-written bomb threat note found inside the school by teachers, Osceola County investigators said.
A bomb squad was called to the school, and officials said they ordered the entire school evacuated.
"I called the sheriff's department and they told me to come and get the kids," said parent Ginnie England.
About 1,500 students were taken by buses to Zenith School on East Irlo Bronson Highway. Officials said they're also bringing in lunch for the students.
Authorities in Osceola County said the student who made this bomb threat will be dealt with harshly
Authorities said someone called in a bomb threat around 10 a.m., and a short time later a suspicious backpack was found in a field next to the school.
