Hey, I'm Tesha, I'm 18 and I'm from a tiny little town in Florida, that none of you have heard of! haha. I'm pregnant with mine and my husbands first baby! I'm due September 1, and I'm so excited that I can hardly wait. The reason I joined, is because people always tell me that I give good advice, and I'm guessing thats why everyone else makes their problems mine, too. But I love to help people who need it, because I know that one day, I'll need help, too! But I'm a very friendly person, so dont be scared to talk to me! I love making new friends.

Thank you for your comment regarding the Confederate flag...As a son of the South (born in
Richmond Virginia) I am proud of my heritage, and as one responder stated...it is more about resistance to government than slavery, or anything else. I am amazed that kids in school today aren't taught history. Hell, not only was the Civil War not fought about slavery, but cotton wasn't even the chief export of the South...it was RICE! The other thing people do not comprehend, is that a slave was very expensive...a young man, say 20 years old, in good physical condition coust (in the 1850's)
about 5 to 6 thousand dollars! (that is equivalent in today's dollars to about 65,000)
Very few could afford to own slaves, and those that did took very good care of them, not out of altruism necessarily, but at least out of economic investment. The cruely to slaves was practiced by the "blackbirders" - the ships that carried them, and by the slave dealers and auctioneers who treated human beings like so much cattle. My fmily never owned slaves, and opposed it. I am a Scottish wet-back - no green card! We came here in 1637 as life looked more promising in the colonies.
Maybe next time I will debunk the "Thanksgiving" myth....you know, Indians, Turky, etc. etc. (It is pure hogwash!) Never happened that way, and the factual record is
readable by anyone...it is in the journal of the Governor, of Massachusetts. Well...I found this site by accident, and like to answer those things I have knowledge thereto....and read and learn from other people. Heck I was a Journalism major in school, so I have a fairly well-rounded background...and like to help.
