You xould either do that from your ipod or your PC.. But you'll still need the PC to download from your Ipod... 1. Open itunes > itunes store. 2. Then find the 'free' app you want and click download. It will ask you if you have an account or not....

Never Happened to me... but when it happened to me with my old ipod... used to wait for it til it runs out of battery... it'll shut down on its own... then charge it, and it'll work like nothing happened...
