Well, weaning them is a touchy thing. Usually mama will do that on her own as she gets pretty sick of them crawling and needing on her a lot. When she begins to spend a lot of time away from her kittens try bringing them soft food every now and then. Nothing canned but heating a bit of dry food with water thats made for kittens is a good way to go. When their walking around a lot on there own is when you should really start getting them into dry food but keep it wet for a while.

as for litter training. Dont count on the mother to do that task. They almost never do. What I did however was putting them in the litter box with mama when she was doing her business this way they kind of get an idea what all that weird stuff is for. lol they mite play in it a lot at first but theyll get the idea. Also when you see them going on the floor and such put them in immediatly dont bother punishing them because they dont know yet that there not sposed to do that. just show them what they ARE supposed to do ya know? hope I helped you out peace!

First, the easy one, litter-training kittens. The easiest way to do it is to put a low litterbox next to where the Momcat has her babies. When they are ready, she will teach them how to use it.

Weaning usually comes between two and three months of age, they’ll start eating soft food when Momma brings it home for them. Keep your eyes peeled and when Momma starts throwing up food for the kittens you can try putting flat dishes (like saucers) of soft kitten food down for them. The dishneeds to be flat enough that a kitten won’t get stuck in the food and drown.

Also, for your family’s health and sanity, treat Momma and the babies for fleas as soon as you can. All it takes is one preganant flea to infest your whole house.

Unless Momma is a show cat and you’re breeding her for money, I would also recommend that you get her spayed when the kittens are all gone. There are so many pets now that hundreds of thousands are put to sleep every year because thay don’t have a home.

Enjoy the kittens, in another month they will be endlessly entertaining, as they practice being cats.

Hugs, Gwenerrella
